Climate Change is a critical issue for governments, organizations, and individuals worldwide in the context of its impact on human population. Drastic lifestyle changes are the need of the hour to mitigate its impact, promote sustainability, and ensure a sustainable future for all living in present and the generations to come.
Guided by the words of Blessed Adolph Kolping, “The needs of the time will teach you what to do”, Kolping India has consistently sensitive to the signs of the time. Realizing the need of the hour in the context of changing environment, Kolping in India has initiated measures to protect nature for a sustainable future. Kolping India has launched activities at grassroot level with community participation towards working on the goal “to restore what has been lost and protect what remains”.
Leveraging the strength of over 41,000 committed Kolping members and the vibrant Kolping family associations, Kolping India embarked on a mission to bring in behavioural and attitudinal change among the communities to protect ‘OUR MOTHER EARTH’. The developmental work of Kolping India propagates public awareness about climate change and promote sustainable practices among rural communities. Kolping India has prioritised women as potential change agents to take the message to their families and communities.
Kolping India focus on education and awareness as the cornerstone of its climate action initiatives. Kolping India has been educating the rural communities about the causes and effect of climate change through sensitisation of climate change related issues, workshops and awareness training sessions. Kolping India has developed climate change related context-specific Information, Education and Communication (IEC) tools suitable for common people, and organized conferences with the participation of NGOs, Academic and Research institutes, government officials and elected representatives across Tamil Nadu.
Coupled with education measures, the collective actions of the Kolping Family Associations at grassroot level have been spreading the message that “We all need to act together right now and here to protect ourselves and the future generations to come”. Kolping Family Associations across geographies are inspiring communities to act responsibly.
Kolping India raise public awareness and mobilize community engagement in nature conservation activities through focused campaigns and educational efforts.
Over 23,500 public were reached with ecological conservation information adopting all possible forms of sensitization methods including Awareness rallies, Public meetings, Vehicle campaign, Cultural Performance, street theatre, distribution of handbills etc, in 2024.


A total of 1650 Kolping members in 2024 were imparted with knowledge and skills in environmental protection and sustainable practices


Kolping members mobilize volunteers from the community to engage in nature conserving activities and motivate people to adopt eco-friendly lifestyle.
